Surrealism 1920s. Surrealism was a movement founded in Paris in 1924 by André Breton the author of Surrealist Manifesto. The connection between Dadaism and Surrealism is rather close – the last one grew out of Dadaism movement, and both movements thus had several things in common, like nihilistic protest against all Western culture, the unconscious in creative activity. In literature the aim was achieved due to such technique as Automatism. Surrealism in literature broke accepted rules and personal conduct so as to liberate the sense of inner truth.
