Surrealism Painter

Surrealism movement was launched in 1924 in Paris with André Breton's Manifesto of Surrealism publication. Influenced by the theories of Sigmund Freud, Breton' Manifesto states that there is a layer of the human mind which contains memories and instincts – the unconscious. Surrealism became a style of painting closely connected with this layer of the human mind. The examples of such link are the works of Dalí, early Ernst, Magritte, the automatism of later Ernst and Miró, and some other Surrealism painters. To reveal the unconscious surrealists used the technique of free association, automatism. Likewise other style Surrealism influenced and played a great role in the development of art, cinema, literature.

Surrealism and Futurism

Futurism is a significant element of modern Western culture. With the death of the movement's leader Marinetti in 1944 Futurism died out as well, and it's revival began in 1988 with the creation of the Neo-Futurist style of theatre in Chicago. These days there are Neo-Futurist troupes in the US, a new form of immediate theatre. Futurism was a current that influenced many other art movements, like Art Deco, Vorticism, Constructivism, Surrealism.

Expressionism and Surrealism

Expressionism, Surrealism, Action painting and Cubism are the movements that constitute a part of abstract art along with a part known as Color Field Abstract Art. These currents are closely related to such term as abstract art the core principle of which is to capture the essence of the artist's subconscious on canvas.

Cubism and Surrealism

There were lots of artistic movements during the 20th century and one of the most significant one was a movement appeared between 1907 and 1914. This style rejected traditional techniques and the theory of art coping nature. This new visual style, Cubism, started to emphasize the two-dimensionality of canvas. Cubists had a geometrically analytical approach to form and color. Picasso and Braque were the inventors of this new visual language, however the style was further developed by the followers of the movement. The group of Cubists remained active until the 1920's. The concepts incorporated by Cubists can be seen in the works of Surrealists and Abstract art painters.
