Painting Art. Art Oil Painting

Painting art has a long history, it has been developing from primitive style of depicting reality to contemporary art highly influenced by technological progress. Such integral part of painting as paint is also associated with different theories, 'cause a lot of ancient painting creation technologies were lost. Our predecessors, the Greeks, the Egyptians and the Romans, used a paint that consisted of a mixture of beeswax encaustic, mineral pigments (iron or copper) and tempera. However it is impossible to say for sure what exactly they used for painting. Later on another types of paint appeared: tempera and oil paint.

The art of oil painting in Italy during the time of the Renaissance included the use of olive oil. The disadvantage of this material was it's excessive drying time. Later on other technique appeared – the use of a drying oil as a varnish on paintings. In the 14th century, Italian artist Cennino Cennini introduced a painting technique that involved covering tempera paintings with light oily layers. The reinvention of the art oil painting took place in the 16th century. Jan van Eyck was the first to make use of a stable varnishing utilizing siccative oil, namely linseed, walnut oil, poppy seed oil. This technique was improved by Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Titian and some other artists. Linseed oil is still the preferred oil in the creation of oil paintings nowadays.

These days paintings are selected for viewing at various galleries and museums – which are meant to highlights the natural beauty all around the world. There are also virtual galleries which also include the works created by different artists. Such galleries is a relatively new form of art demonstration which makes it more affordable for the viewer.

There are the followers of modern art styles and also innovative contemporary techniques inventors among these days artists. Thus, a lot of contemporary painters have art oil painting in their collections. Likewise acrylics, watercolors, oils has it's advantages and exclusive characteristics: the paint color remains the same when being applied than when it dries. The same holds true when it goes about the situation of color. And it is also needed to sat that oil is the principle of of all painting mediums.
