Abstraction Artwork
Abstract elements are found in different artworks of various cultures and early people. However it is accepted to date back the origine of Abstract art to 1910 – the period of Cubism invention by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. In addition to cubism and other styles that preceded and influenced Abstraction there were also certain events, changes and development that as well resulted into the development of Abstract art. Classical art with it's sincerity and usefulness was replaced by Abstractionism.Impressionists were one of the first to put emphasis on first impressions, the post-impressionists would begin to paint from their imagination. Georges Braques was the first to use the technique of faceting an image, rather than the appearance, which would lead to cubism and Picasso's interpretation of this technique lead to the development of almost pure abstraction. Later abstractionism was divided into Geometric abstraction (emphasizes the conceptual side of art) and Painterly automatism (is focused on emotionality and spontaneity).
Piet Mondrian's Neo-plasticism based on three primary colors: red, yellow and blue, is the prime example of geometric abstraction. Painterly automatism became the dominant approach to abstract art in the form of abstract expressionism during the 1940s and after WWII. With the lapse of time abstract art began to be limited, Jackson Pollock's Abstraction paintings demonstrated the move of abstract expressionism towards the production of paintings without conscious control. A rebellion against abstract-geometric and cubistic bounds, the formalism of abstract codes were the beginning of abstract expressionism development in America. There is no contraposition between abstract art and figurative art in contemporary painting, they coexist in a number of artworks.
Abstraction wasn't applied regarding abstraction painting only, this term was used to define the artworks of other media. During the 1930s when the artists from Russia, Germany, Holland and other European countries escaping the rise of totalitarianism centered in Paris, Sophie Tauber and Jean Arp artists collaborated on Abstraction sculpture using geometric forms. Other artist Katarzyna Kobro applied to sculpture mathematically based ideas. Abstraction sculpture and Abstraction paintings are created these days and it proves that abstraction remains of actual importance into the 21th century.
